The granular iron technology is an in-situ method of treating groundwater contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs). A typical in-situ configuration consists of a granular iron PRB placed across the flow path of a VOC plume, as the plume flows through the PRB under natural gradients, the VOCs are destroyed to non-toxic end products.
